[synopsis] => Email marketing is a digital marketing strategy that involves sending emails to prospects and customers to cultivate relationships, enhance user engagement, promote brand awareness, drive sales, and achieve other marketing objectives (Zhang, 2019). This strategic form of direct communication works to convert prospects into customers and turn one-time buyers into loyal, recurring clients. At the core of every email marketing campaign is the email list: a database of prospective and current customers that a business communicates with using strategically tailored content. This list is developed by accumulating subscribers through website sign-ups, promotions, or loyalty schemes, who have voluntarily given their email addresses because they are interested in the brand or its products or services (Kumar & Barjatya, 2019).The primary goal of email marketing is to build and nurture relationships with potential and existing customers – a crucial element for successful businesses. By delivering personalized and valuable content directly into a recipient's inbox, a company can maintain top-of-mind awareness, educate its audience, and promote its products or services to clients (Pletikosa Cvijikj & Michahelles, 2013).Email marketing is also an effective tool for increasing brand recognition. When done correctly and consistently, exposing subscribers to the brand's visual elements and messages boosts the chances of converting them into customers. Moreover, email marketing is the electronic equivalent of direct mail marketing, allowing businesses to target specific audiences.Marketing email types include newsletters, transactional emails, direct emails, and triggered emails. The type of email sent depends primarily on the marketing objectives of the company (Kumar & Barjatya, 2019). Understanding the different types can aid a business in creating an effective and engaging email strategy.Perhaps one of the most significant advantages of email marketing is its cost-effectiveness, which makes it an ideal marketing strategy for small businesses with limited budgets. Moreover, it allows tracking and analytics that provide insights into open rates, click-through rates, and conversion rates, helping marketers understand their audience better and optimize their strategies.
